FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I attend Lobby Days if I am a minor?
Yes, you certainly can. We are equal-opportunity activists.

Is the registration fee $60 or has it increased?
The registration is still $60. No fine print.

Is there a deadline for registration?
We will be accepting registration for How it Ends up until June 22nd

HOWEVER, if you register AFTER JUNE 7th, we cannot guarantee you a meeting with your member of Congress. These meetings must be set up weeks in advance and we are only scheduling meetings with members of Congress from the states and districts that are represented at How it Ends. If you sign up after June 7th and a meeting has not already been scheduled for your state/district, it will be too late to set one up at that point. You will still be able to participate in all other How it Ends activities.

What does my $60 pay for?
Your $60 pays for your How it Ends Oxford shirt, the costs of the event, and your admission into the Tuesday-evening rally in front of the White House.  It does not cover expenses for housing accommodations, food, transportation, or Washington Monument paperweights.

What happens to the money I fundraise through my personal page?
Any funds raised above and beyong the $60 registration fee are designated to cover event costs.

Are there any recommended accommodations?

For information about lodging, please go to the “Accommodations” link on the How it Ends homepage.

Will I receive any information prior to How it Ends? Do I need proof of my registration?
You will not receive any informational or promotional materials prior to the event. All information and/or materials you will need for How it Ends will be emailed to you, posted on our website, or given to you at check-in on Monday, June 22nd . Upon arrival at How it Ends, you will immediately  go to one of the registration/check-in tables. If you have some form of ID, please bring it.  When you check in, you will receive a packet of information, your admission pass/name-tag,  and your How It Ends Oxford shirt.

Where do I go on the first day?
Between 7:30am and 8:30am Monday morning, you will check in at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in DC (801 Mount Vernon Place, NW Washington, DC 20001). Volunteers will be present to assist you and direct you to the check-in/registration area. If you have already registered you will immediately check in and receive a How it Ends informational packet.  If you have not yet registered, there will be a designated area for you to register and receive your informational packet, pass/nametag, and shirt.

Who will I be grouped with during Lobby Days?

We will group you with others from your state during the Senate meetings on Tuesday.

I have never lobbied before and I am not sure what to do. Are you going to train me?

Why yes, we certainly are! Don’t worry if you are new to lobbying  Members of Congress, we’ve got you covered. First, go to the “Resource” page of howitends.tv and read up on this process.

On Monday night at How it Ends, we will train you on where to go, what to do, and how to clearly communicate this issue to your Members of Congress.  Also, each group will have a lobby-savvy team leader present at the meetings. They will guide you and be available to answer your questions.

Can I volunteer for the How it Ends?

Thank you so much for your willingness to help. Currently, we do not need volunteers, but we will put a message up on http://howitends.tv and on the How it Ends facebook group if we need more help.

How should I dress for How It Ends?

For the Monday night rally, as well as the Tuesday night concert, feel free to dress casually. For the Monday symposium (keynote speakers and breakout sessions), we encourage you to dress somewhat formally.  Dress as you might to a graduation, church service, or a luncheon with a speaker.

For the meetings with Senators on Tuesday, it is important to dress formally—as you would for an important job interview. Make sure to wear your How it Ends Oxford shirt on Tuesday.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase an Invisible Children skinny tie at registration if you would like to sport one with your How it Ends shirt.

Is there anything I should read/study to prepare for How it Ends?
YES! Go to the “Resources” link from the homepage and read up! If we put it up there, it’s work knowing. It is crucial that we approach our Senate meetings well-informed and competent on this subject. So please, please, please use these valuable tools.

Is there a way to connect with other people from my area who are attending How it Ends?
Yep, we created a How it Ends Facebook group that you can join to connect with other attendees. You can find the Facebook group HERE
